A software error in the instrument cluster caused Harley-Davidson to recall its Sportster S models.
Harley-Davidson has voluntarily recalled some of the 2021 Sportster S because of a software error in the instrument cluster. According to the recall notice, the instrument cluster on some 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster S models may not show the speedometer or neutral indicator if the temperature outside is below 0 degrees Celsius. The company also said that the instrument cluster will self-heat while the car is running, and that this can only happen when the car is cold. Operating a motorcycle without a visible speedometer or neutral indicator may increase the chance of a crash.
